Creativity Shell Rochester Launches FREE Fashion Arts/Sewing Classes at Carter and Ryan Recreation Centers.
The Creativity Shell Rochester is launching 8 weeks of FREE fashion arts/sewing classes for children 8 – 17 at the Carter and Ryan Recreation Centers in Rochester.
The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches classes such as sewing/textile arts, cooking, building and other creative trades to students in their private studios, libraries, schools, community centers, ABA therapy centers, the juvenile justice system as well as shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. All of their classes are designed to teach children essential life and practical skills.
There will be 4 classes at the Carter Recreation Centers on Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:30PM – 4:30 PM and from 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM. The 4 classes at the Ryan Recreation Center will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30PM – 4:30 PM and from 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM. Students can sign up for 1 of the classes at no cost and all materials and supplies are included.

Students enrolled in Creativity Shell fashion arts/sewing classes will also be eligible to present their designs/creations at the organization’s annual fashion show Creativity Rocks – Space at Seabreeze Amusement Park on June 4, 2021 from 6PM – 10PM. The fashion show is a unique fundraiser for the organization and tickets are available to the public on the organization’s website www.creativityshellroc.org.
This program is paid for through funding from the City of Rochester, Bernina USA and through private donations to the Creativity Shell from individuals in the community. Spaces for these classes are limited and are available on a first come first sewing basis.
