Creativity Shell hosts Children’s Interactive Area at International Quilt Festival!
From November 3 – 6, 2016, the Creativity Shell will be hosting the Children’s Interactive Area at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX! The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization that is on a mission to use creative trades such as sewing/textile arts to educate and inspire the next generation of makers.
The organization plans to introduce a range of simple sewing projects that students can complete in as little as 20 minutes. Children and parents are encouraged to stop by the Creativity Shell booth for a sewing lesson as they make their rounds through the George R. Brown center for the Quilt Festival.
Sewing machines can be used on a first come first served basis. Funds generated and/or donated at the Quilt Festival will be used to pay for the cost of the sewing/textile arts programs the Creativity Shell hosts in local schools, public libraries and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking.
Sewing/Textile Arts volunteers are also needed to help manage the Creativity Shell Booth. All volunteer will receive a free entry into the Quilt Festival on his or her volunteer day. Please contact sdaniel@creativityshell.org or 832-943-9767 if you would like to volunteer for this event.
