GRAND OPENING – Creativity Shell Opens NEW Makerspace for Kids in Webster, NY!

Nonprofit organization the Creativity Shell, who is on a mission to educate and inspire the next generation of makers, is opening a makerspace for kids at 807 Ridge Road in Webster in NY!

Founded in 2015, by costume designer/educational psychologist Shelancia Daniel, the Creativity Shell teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to kids in their private studios, local schools, public libraries and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking.

The NEW Webster makerspace will be a child friendly environment where students can learn practical disciplines such as sewing, textile arts, interior design, cooking, and other advanced design courses. The organization will also be launching a dedicated S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) program where students will learn to sew with electricity conductive threads and build LED lights and circuits into clothing. In addition, the Creativity Shell Makerspace will also be available to homeschool students, Girls and Boy Scout troops as well as private events/birthday parties and corporate SEAM building events.

“Our makerspaces for kids are a dream come true!” says Daniel. “It is so important that we teach many of these forgotten arts to our kids, and we are so happy that we have a new larger space where we can do that” added Daniel.

The Creativity Shell Webster will be open in August and will be hosting FREE Grand Opening Sewing Workshops to the public from 10AM – Noon on Saturday, August 3, 2019. There will be a small craft for guests to work on.
