An open letter to Architects in Rochester, NY and beyond!
Dear Rochester Architect,
The Creativity Shell is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. Our organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. We are also active in working with children in refugee communities as well as LGBTQ youths. Our classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.
To launch our creative building project, we will be hosting a camp from July 23 – 27, 2018 called Creative Architecture Camp.
This camp will be hosted at the Creativity Shell studio at 1984 Monroe Avenue and it is our goal to offer this camp FREE of charge to students from low income and refugee families in Rochester.
Some of the projects we will be working on will involve teaching children to build basic homes from popsicle sticks, building homes from biodegradable and recycle materials, building mud huts (which include a history lesson of mud homes and the possible future of them) and we will also teach them to use elements such as electricity conductive threads and electricity conductive paints to create smart homes.
The Creativity Shell Rochester is asking you to sponsor a child from one of our homeless or refugee families to attend Creative Architecture Camp. We are hoping to accept 10 children into this program and your sponsorship will help pay for the costs of materials and supplies for the student as well as transportation to and from our studio and meals for the child to eat each day during the daily 5-day camp.
All sponsors will be highlighted during our daily camp sessions and as this program continues to develop we hope that by inspiring the kids today, will help you find valuable employees for your companies in the future.
